Awards
To honour authors and reviewers and strengthen connections with its scholarly community, Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière (QANE-AFI) presents two annual awards. These awards are presented in collaboration with the journal’s publisher, the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN).
The Florence Myrick Scholarly Reviewer Award
This award recognizes excellence in peer reviewing, an essential but hidden part of the scholarly publication process.
Dr. Florence Myrick (1948–2025), who served as inaugural Co-Editor-in-Chief of QANE-AFI from 2014 to 2023, was a highly respected nursing education researcher, teacher, supervisor of graduate studies, writer, and mentor. Her work, which had a rich impact on many of her students and colleagues across Canada and around the world, was about rigorous quality and genuine openness.
Peer reviewers of QANE-AFI’s submissions are considered annually for the award, which is granted at the Awards Recognition Event at CASN’s annual Council Meeting.
2026 Recipient
François Kajiramugabi Maneraguha, Université de Montréal
Co-Editors-in-Chief Picks of the Year
QANE-AFI features two articles as Picks of the Year—one in English, submitted to the annual virtual journal (IVJ) of the International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE), and one in French. The Co-Editors-in-Chief make their selections based on relevance and timeliness of the topics to nursing education, as well as reader interest.
CASN announces the Picks of the Year at the CASN Council Awards Recognition Event.
