The increasing tendency of seniors to remain at home presents complex health care issues that require nurses to upgrade their knowledge and skills through continuing education. However, few studies contend that these activities help improve the quality of care in the long term. This article derives from a study regarding continuing education for home care nurses who care for seniors in Central Canada. Eight nurses participated in semi-structured interviews whose data were subject to a theme-based analysis. In this article, the authors discuss one of these themes: the perceived impacts of continuing education. Our findings suggest that where relevant, continuing education for nurses can help improve the quality of care.
